Biochemistry Molecular Model Student Set – 74 Atoms
Biochemistry Molecular Model Student Set – 74 Atoms
SKU:41MM010
Biochemistry Molecular Model Student Set for exploring the three-dimensional structures of important biological molecules. Designed for chemistry and biochemistry teaching, the set contains 74 atom parts and 50 links for constructing a wide range of molecular structures.
The set includes multiple carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen configurations together with sulphur and phosphorus atoms. These allow students to investigate molecular geometry, structural isomerism, single and multiple bonds, and the structures of many biologically important compounds.
What's Included
- 13 × black carbon atoms – 4-hole tetrahedral, sp3, 23 mm
- 9 × black carbon atoms – 3-hole trigonal, sp2, 23 mm
- 23 × white hydrogen atoms – 1-hole, 17 mm
- 3 × white hydrogen atoms – 2-hole linear, 17 mm
- 11 × red oxygen atoms – 2-hole angular, 23 mm

- 1 × yellow sulphur atom – 2-hole angular, 23 mm
- 1 × purple phosphorus atom – 4-hole tetrahedral, sp3, 23 mm
- 40 × grey medium links
- 10 × grey long flexible links
Teaching Applications
- Explore molecular and structural formulae
- Demonstrate structural isomerism
- Model single, double and triple covalent bonds
- Investigate amino acids and peptide bonding
- Construct peptide and polypeptide structures
- Explore monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides
- Model purines, pyrimidines, nucleosides and nucleotides
- Investigate DNA-related molecular structures
- Explore glycerides and phospholipids
Medium links are used to represent single covalent bonds, while the long flexible links can be used to represent double or triple covalent bonds. Different atom geometries allow students to visualise tetrahedral, trigonal, angular and linear arrangements.
The supplied four-page teaching guide provides molecular structures and modelling information covering amino acids, peptides, alpha-helices, carbohydrates, purines, pyrimidines, nucleosides, nucleotides, DNA-related structures, glycerides and phospholipids.
Supplied in a compartmented storage box for convenient classroom and laboratory use.
