Description

Graphite has a layered, planar structure. In each layer, the carbon atoms are arranged in a honeycomb lattice with separation. The layering contributes to its lower density. Within the layer, the carbon atoms are held by the strong covalent bonds but between the layers we have the weak Van der Waals forces and it therefore becomes easy for two layers to slip past each other giving Graphite its smooth nature and usefulness in lubrication. Ball Diameter 23mm.
