Separating Funnel, Pear-Shaped, 50mL – PTFE Stopcock
Separating Funnel, Pear-Shaped, 50mL – PTFE Stopcock
SKU:49FSPT50
This 50mL pear-shaped borosilicate glass separating funnel is designed for separating immiscible liquids and carrying out liquid–liquid extraction in school science and laboratory chemistry. Also known as a separatory funnel or separation funnel, it allows liquids of different densities to settle into distinct layers so the lower layer can be drained in a controlled manner through the PTFE stopcock.
Features and specifications
- Capacity: 50mL
- Body: pear-shaped borosilicate glass
- Stopcock: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)
- Neck joint size: 19/26
- PE (polyethylene) stopper included
- Suitable for liquid separation, solvent extraction and chemistry demonstrations
Recommended laboratory support
Use with the 48RR50 retort ring with integral bosshead mounted on a stable retort stand. Support equipment is sold separately.
Important: Allow the liquid layers to settle before opening the stopcock to drain the lower phase. When mixing liquids that may build pressure, follow laboratory safety procedures and vent carefully. Not suitable for separating fully miscible liquids.
