This Foucalt’s pendulum apparatus is small enough to use with your hands! The spring type pendulum assists understanding of Foucault’s theory with hands-on experience. In general, traditional models of Foucault’s pendulum require a large space in a science museum as the length can be 10m or more. Since the theory of Foucault’s pendulum results from the Earth’s rotation, large models require half day to demonstrate the effect.
This device generates a faster demonstration of the theory of Foucault pendulum. When you hold it and vibrate the small ball at the tip of spring bar inside the plastic cylinder, the spring serves as Foucault pendulum. For Example, if you set (hold)the equipment at the position higher than your eye level by certain degrees equivalent to the latitude of the point where you are, you will see how the pendulum changes its rotation angle relative to vibration direction as long as you keep rotating on your axis (360 degrees).
