Description

With this oil-filled compass, the deflection of the compass needle is slowed down, whether in ambient conditions or positioned close to an electrical circuit for demonstrations of the effect of a current on a compass. The needle movement occurs smoothly unlike traditional compasses which are subject to repeated vibrations. The experiment can be projected using an OHP or document camera.

The effect of a current to create a magnetic field can be demonstrated using this oil-filled compass by turning the handle of the Genecon first forward and then backward. (Genecons are sold separately. Search 42GV3 & 42GDUE.)
